Earth observation aims to establish knowledge about new mapping techniques and other Earth observation tasks in order that society can take full advantage of these new surveying and mapping technologies like GPS, DGPS, GPRS, LIDAR, etc.,. The aim of the division is to gain and disseminate scientific knowledge on earth observations. This knowledge is applied in development of tools to help good governance and wise and sustainable use of natural resources in the state and emerging economies. It deals with earth observation technology for problem solving. Problem solving means primarily identification of solutions for large -volume producers of geo-information and identification of solutions for application domains.
