Discription : The Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) formed its 29th chapter in the state of Andhra Pradesh, named “Amaravati Chapter” on 23rd October, 2017 at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh Space Applications Centre (APSAC), Planning Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh premises by Dr. K.J.Ramesh, Director General, IMD, Govt. of India along with the officials from IMD, ISRO, Academic institutes, APSAC & APSDPS. Dr.Ramesh highlighted the vision of IMS and directed all the members of the IMS - Amaravati Chapter to actively participate in popularizing the Meteorological Science among the students and the common public by means of Advocacy, Awareness and knowledge Outreach by organizing scientific lectures, Road shows, Seminars, Workshops, etc. and help the needy & Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in time of crisis / Meteorological Disasters. The following officials are nominated as the interim office bearers of IMS - Amaravati Chapter. Dr. K.V.Ramana, VC, APSAC as Chairman, Sri. P.V.R.Murthy, APSDPS as Vice-Chairman, Sri. M.V.R.Murty, Scientist, APSAC as Secretary, Sri. S.V.Raghava Reddy, Scientist, APSAC as Treasurer along with 6 members as Executive Members. IMS- Amaravati Chapter will operate from Andhra Pradesh Space Applications Centre (APSAC), Planning Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Labbipet, Vijayawada.
